In times of ecological and geopolitical crisis, the world seems to spin faster. If we close our eyes, can we escape? Can we slow down time so that it fades away into an echoing infinity until it completely stops ticking? Can we dissolve into the eternal, like an ocean of waiting along the riverbank?
Echoes of Visions is a multisensory art installation in a former sea container, exploring eternal aspects of the earth and universe, memory, waiting and the experience of time. Changing and disappearing landscapes affect biodiversity and life on our planet at a rapidly increasing pace, while conflicts and gaps between cultures only seem to grow.
The exhibition is a degree project by Jonas van Kappel within Curating Art, International Master’s Programme at the Department of Culture and Aesthetics, Stockholm University. With a background in art history, language studies and theatre, his interests and experiences lie in multi-sensory, queer and experiential approaches to contemporary art, collection research, and theatre education.
