Mucus : an object-based multimedia installation

Our Gallery will launch its opening with a prototype audiovisual installation by the German-based sound artist Hendrik Klatte

Mucus

In his audiovisual project Mucus, Hendrik Klatte explores the speculative possibility of interspecies communication. Through the use of laboratory software, he translates an organic process into sound, raising questions about cognition and emergence.
Drawing on timelapse photography, biolab work, computerized image analysis and modular sound synthesis, the sound installation challenges the phenomenological issue derived from Thomas Nagel‘s line of thought: What is it like to be slime?

About the artist

Hendrik Klatte, born in 1988, researches nature and sound.
Following his scientific studies in biochemistry and pharmacy, he now uses his specialist knowledge as a background and approach to his sonic, installation and curative works.

In addition to his own work, he has a great curatorial interest: On the re:natura platform, he publishes international sound artists in thematic compilations on scientific fields.

Following a residency at EMS, Hendrik Klatte will present a prototype of Mucus in Galleri Frihamsntorget, focusing on the sound installation
